Portrait of the legendary actor, racer, and philanthropist Paul Newman in his role as Butch Cassidy in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”; paired with another Hollywood icon, Robert Redford, this film was one of my favorite movies and remains so to this day.

There is possibly no one cooler than Paul Newman and his portrayal as Butch was a high mark for the cinema of my youth.

I continue to expand on the integration of digital painting with the intaglio technique to create a layered portrait of the actor.

Don Corleone

Growing up in an Italian family from New York The Godfather was almost as sacred as The Baltimore Catechism. I remember watching this as a child and, excepting the criminal behavior, seeing the similarities between these actors on screen and my Italian-immigrant relatives.

It was only later, in my teens, that I read Mario Puzo’s famous book and really began to love the craft of storytelling; both the literature as well as the masterful film and performances like Marlon Brando’s who brought the Don to life.

Portrait of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leai

Taking a break from some Halloween-themes today and posting a recent portrait of the late Carrie Fisher in her iconic role of Princess Leia Organa (Skywalker). This is during “The Empire Strikes Back” era in the Star Wars universe of stories.

Some video of the on-screen Photoshop files shows a bit of the detail of the work-in-progress. The unfinished areas are a deliberate decision to focus on the actor and the attempt to achieve a viable likeness to Carrie.

At this size above, you can see the interplay of the digital painting layers interacting with the multitude of intaglio layers to develop the portrait of Leia.

Magic Kingdom Anniversary

May Walt Disney World bring joy and inspiration and new knowledge to all who come to this happy place … a Magic Kingdom where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and play and learn together.

Although the celebrations began on October 1, commemorating the day the park opened, the dedication of the park actually took place on October 25, 1971.

Walt Disney World is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney… and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyalty of the entire Disney organization that made Walt Disney’s dream come true.

May Walt Disney World bring Joy and Inspiration and New Knowledge to all who come to this happy place… a Magic Kingdom where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and play and learn — together.

These tiny planets, equirectangular panoramas, were created using a series of images stitched together to create a standard panorama. Once the panorama was created, it was manipulated to create this spherical projection more commonly known as a tiny planet.

I have created a series of these based on the Walt Disney World parks and resorts over the years and continue to develop new versions to celebrate the magic of Disney’s Galaxy.
