Growing up in an Italian family from New York The Godfather was almost as sacred as The Baltimore Catechism. I remember watching this as a child and, excepting the criminal behavior, seeing the similarities between these actors on screen and my Italian-immigrant relatives.
It was only later, in my teens, that I read Mario Puzo’s famous book and really began to love the craft of storytelling; both the literature as well as the masterful film and performances like Marlon Brando’s who brought the Don to life.
