Hawkeye

Portrait of Daniel Day-Lewis as Hawkeye

Portrait of Daniel Day-Lewis as Hawkeye adapted James Fennimore Cooper’s novel “The Last of the Mohicans” and brought to the big screen by Morgan Creek.

This is one of my favorite films mostly due to the fact that it is a shining example of the illustrated works of N.C. Wyeth brought to the big screen. Almost every scene in this film is an homage to the works of one of America’s greatest illustrators which only reinforces the great story by Cooper.

This seems to be the second in my minimalist attempts at a type-driven alternative movie poster concept for the film to be shared across some of my social networks.

These illustrations were created using custom brushes, textures, and patterns in Corel Painter, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.

David Bowie

David Bowie

Portrait of David Bowie

Portrait of the late, great David Bowie. An artist, who by all accounts, was not of this earth. His artistic vision and understanding of all things far preceded his time on earth. Watching clips of him discuss the internet back during the first internet bubble are more than prescient.

I was fortunate to see David Bowie perform live at Madison Square Garden. It was during the Serious Moonlight tour, after he had made up with another legend, Stevie Ray Vaughan; who by surprise actually played that night and it was magical.

These portraits were created using Adobe Illustrator, Corel Painter, and Adobe Photoshop.

Boba Fett

Boba Fett

Portrait of Boba Fett, the bounty hunter

Portrait of Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett, the clone turned bounty hunter and the original Mandalorian in the Star Wars universe of stories.

Detail of portrait of Boba Fett

Boba Fett played such a small but integral role in the original trilogy; he wasn’t even properly identified, merely called Bounty Hunter. And everyone thought he was dead, until Patton Oswalt resurrected him and manifested it into reality on Disney+

Alternative poster design for Boba Fett

As I often do, I created a more poster-sized version of the illustration to share on my social network and the alternative movie poster community at PosterSpy

These illustrations were created using custom brushes, textures, and patterns in Corel Painter, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.

Laura Palmer

Laura Palmer

Portrait of Sheryl Lee as Laura Palmer from "Twin Peaks"

A little Friday Fright Fun with a portrait of Sheryl Lee as Laura Palmer from David Lynch’s cult favorite television show “Twin Peaks”.

This show was a cultural event, kind of like “Lost” in the 2000s – it was a show everyone was watching, talking about, and wondering what happened to Laura Palmer. It put David Lynch in our collective consiousness and honestly, we are better for it.

These portraits were created using Adobe Illustrator, Corel Painter, and Adobe Photoshop.

Portrait of Malcolm McDowell

Portrait of Malcolm McDowell as Alex the leader of the gang of droogs in “A Clockwork Orange“; a hyper violent interpretation of Anthony Burgess’ novel by Stanley Kubrick.

Detail of portrait of Malcolm McDowell

The film follows Alex DeLarge on his violent crime spree and attempted cure using an experimental technique called the Ludovico Technique. Malcolm received wide acclaim for his portrayal in the film and was nominated for a Golden Globe, a National Society of Film Critics Award, and a New York Film Critics Circle Award as Best Actor.

I used the portrait as a background for a minimalist alternative movie poster concept for the film as well to share on some of my social networks.
