Portrait of the first modern-era Batman; Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne in Tim Burton’s Batman. Looking back, Keaton was a bold choice for the role since he was mainly known for his comedic skills but he delivered a stellar performance as the dark knight.

I believe most of us will be happy to close the book on this difficult year. There are few things that I can be thankful for through these times, but one thing is for sure, I have done a lot of illustrations in 2020. As I continue to transpose my traditional training to the digital realm, I have been working on various pop culture themes that speak to me and bring me joy. I have lots of ideas for 2021 and would love to collaborate on projects with artists, galleries, and companies who have a strong vision on what illustration can provide to their businesses.

Portrait of the great Rutger Hauer as the Nexus-6 combat model replicant N6MAA10816, Roy Batty, from Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner”. Rutger’s portrayal of this character’s pain has been a seminal performance in cinema since this film was released.

As I work through composition, rendering, effects, the illustration will evolve over time. Some illustrations incorporate some effects and finishing to complete the vision, like this version with a lens flare shining from behind Roy.

Sometimes, the end result is an alternative movie poster as well, like the above image. These images will end up on my PosterSpy or ArtStation profiles as well, to support my involvement in those creative communities.

All of these illustrations have been created in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop using custom brushes.

It’s the weekend, so it is officially #Baturday today! This is a portrait of Robert Pattinson in his highly anticipated role as Batman as he takes over the caped crusader from Ben Affleck. So far the short previews I have seen on this film make me excited for this next chapter in the caped crusader’s filmography.

Although my recent forays into portraiture have focused on real-world actors, I wanted to test the boundaries of my technique and see if it was equally appropriate for some of the animated characters that I love so dearly. I believe that the work that I have been focused on in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop continues to transpose my traditional painting skills into a digital realm of compatability.
