Star Wars: A New Hope

Composite illustration of Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Luke Skywalker

A new composite illustration themed around Star Wars with a focus on the Dark Lord of the Sith and his connections that run through the Jedis. Focused on Darth Vader, this Star Wars illustration emphasizes the important role he plays in the mythologies created by the mind of George Lucas.

The connection to Luke Skywalker in this film is merely adveserial with the audience not yet learning of the familial connection to Darth Vader until this film’s sequel.

The Empire Strikes back was arguably the best of the original three films due to the addition of Irvin Kirshner as the director for this sequel to the original Star Wars film.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway

Portrait of Anne Hathaway

Portrait of the Oscar-winning actor, Anne Hathaway and an extension into an alternative movie poster for Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises“.

Detail of portrait of Anne Hathaway

Nolan’s trilogy was the strongest set of films from the DC cinematic universe; they have not been able to match Marvel’s success yet, but the latest incarnation of the Batman seems to rival Nolan’s take on the Dark Knight.

Anne Hathaway is one in a long line of actors to play Catwoman and her turn in the suit was stellar. She provided the right amount of vulnerability with strength to make the character her own; it would have been great to see her reprise the role in another film.

Portrait of Scarlett Johansson as Natalia Romanova, the Black Widow; the character originally created by Stan Lee, Don Rico, and Don Heck and brought to live in the Marvel Cinematic Univers (MCU).

Originally created to antagonize Iron Man, Scarlett was a perfect foil for Robert Downey, Jr. in the MCU.

It was honestly, way too long for this character to get her own feature film and once she did we were in a worldwide pandemic in lockdown. When Disney tried to change the release of the film it triggered a lawsuit by Scarlett and her representatives due to the haphazard manner in which Bob Chapek handled the contract.

In the end Disney learned a very valuable less and Scarlett earned the respect of most in the industry in the way she stood her ground in the face of the world’ largest entertainment company.

Batman

Batman

Vintage Batman portrait

Composite portrait of the legendary Batman, created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. The dark knight and protector of Gotham city since he appeared in Detective Comics in 1939.

Detail of vintage Batman portrait

Although I am more of a Marvel Universe fan, having grown up on their mythologies, Batman has been one of the DC properties that I grew to love at an early age. His portrayal has ranged from campy with the television situation comedy portrayed by Adam West to the gritty defender of Frank Miller’s stories and I have enjoyed almost every incarnation.

I also created an alternative movie poster as a one-sheet for the PosterSpy community. These illustrations were created using Adobe Illustrator, Corel Painter, and Adobe Photoshop.
