Another illustration I started during the Thanksgiving Holiday. In anticipation of the new “Spider-Man: No Way Home” film’s release, I wanted to illustrate the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in celebration of Steve Ditko and Stan Lee’s creation.
The above image is early in the process, after the layout is established and showing an early estimation of the intaglio layers that will be incorporated over the digital painting.
I also wanted to use a simple palette based on the bright primary red and blue from the traditional Spider-Man costume. I played around with textures, clouds, and cityscapes in the background but ultimately decided to use a simple blue gradient to keep the attention on Spider-Man.
