Portrait of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Organa

Portrait of Carrie Fisher in her iconic role as Leia Organa, princess, general, and Jedi, from past 40-plus years of Star Wars stories brought to us by the great mind of George Lucas.

I first saw Star Wars in the theater that summer of 1977 – it was a Loews in New York City. My father took me and my brother to see the film; my father was never impressed with much in cinema but I remember hearing him mutter “wow” at the opening sequence of this film. That left an impact on me, almost as much as Carrie Fisher’s portrayal of Princess Leia Organa.

Like many boys of that age, I fell in love with the brave Princess who powered through that first film, and then through the subsequent sequels. My fondness for her has only grown over my lifetime. I have tried to capture her spirit several times in paintings over the years and will, most likely, continue with other illustrations in the future.

This portrait was created using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Corel Painter.
