I have always loved the Pirates of the Caribbean rides at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom theme parks. When I originally heard they were making films about these attractions years ago, I couldn’t think of a dumber concept. However, the films were silly enough and turned out to be enjoyable popcorn films and Keira Knightley shone as the star of the films in my mind.

She is a talented actor and she brought a strength to the character, who was always willing to throw down with anyone, which I liked about her performances. Her arc across the film franchise was always my favorite part of the films and the culmination of her becoming the Pirate King in the third film secured her place in the folklore.

As with many of my recent sketch portraits, this began as a vector image and was then brought into paint the details.
